University of Sargodha Syndicate Approves Proposal for Offshore Campus in China


SARGODHA: The 74th meeting of the Syndicate of the University of Sargodha, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, resulted in several significant approvals including a proposal to establish an offshore campus in China. This initiative, recommended by the Finance and Planning Committee, awaits further endorsement from the Government of Punjab and the Higher Education Commission (HEC).



According to University of Sargodha, the Syndicate also endorsed recommendations from the Academic Council, which included amendments to Graduate Semester Regulations and an updated internship framework. The adoption of the Higher Education Commission Pakistan PSG 2023 Quality Framework was approved, alongside the uniform offering of general education courses at the undergraduate level. Additionally, a new course on Artificial Intelligence, aligning with HEC guidelines, was introduced. The Syndicate further approved launching joint degree programs in collaboration with universities in the United Kingdom to enhance international academic engagement.



The meeting addressed and approved various administrative matters concerning faculty and staff. Attendees included notable figures such as former Chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Vice Chancellor Government College University Lahore Prof. Dr. Omer Chaudhry, and Member of Provincial Assembly Mansoor Azam Sindhu. Other participants were Additional Secretary Universities Higher Education Department Punjab Zaida Azhar, Mr. Umair Iqbal Deputy Director Law Department, Mr. Majid Mustafa Director HRD PHEC, and several principals and university officials.
