University of Sargodha Hosts Awareness Walk to Highlight Kashmir Solidarity

SARGODHA: An awareness walk was organized at the University of Sargodha by the Department of Economics in collaboration with the Riaz Shad Co-Curricular Forum to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, drawing attention to the ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to University of Sargodha, the event saw participants strongly condemn the situation faced by unarmed Kashmiri civilians and called on the international community to take concrete actions towards implementing United Nations resolutions that recognize the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination.

The walk included notable attendees such as Dr. Mahmood ul Hassan, Chairperson of the Department of Economics; Dr. Muhammad Munir Gujjar, Director of the Riaz Shad Co-Curricular Forum; Dr. Faheem Arshad, Resident Officer; and Colonel (retd) Ishtiaq Ahmed, Chief Security Officer, along with faculty members, administrative staff, and numerous students.

The rally began at the Department of Economics and concluded at Library Chowk, where participants, including students, raised slogans supporting Kashmir and honored the sacrifices of Kashmiris in their struggle for freedom. The event reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan's youth to continue supporting their Kashmiri counterparts and voicing the need to end India's occupation at relevant forums.

Speakers at the walk underscored that the Kashmir issue represents a significant humanitarian crisis, not just a political or territorial dispute, and expressed regret at the global community's continued silence. They stressed that achieving lasting peace in South Asia requires a fair resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
