Lahore: The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) conducted its 23rd Steering Committee Meeting, focusing on reviewing its performance in alignment with the Higher Education Commission's ORIC Policy 2021. The meeting, chaired by Dr. Hammad Naveed, Pro-Rector, assembled university leaders, industry stakeholders, and ORIC officials.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director of ORIC, provided a detailed overview of the office's activities for November and December 2025. The presentation highlighted significant progress in research publications, the expansion of UCP journals, acquisition of national and international grants, and advancements in intellectual property filings.
The meeting also emphasized ORIC's efforts in commercialization, fostering industry-academia collaboration, and promoting entrepreneurship. Notably, the initiatives in Generative AI (GenAI) capacity-building and international engagement were particularly recognized by the committee.
The committee members expressed appreciation for ORIC's achievements and endorsed upcoming initiatives. Among these are the publication of the ORIC Annual Report 2025 and a Generative AI training program set for January 2026.
Strategic recommendations were also made to further bolster the University of Central Punjab's innovation ecosystem, ensuring continued growth and development in research and commercial innovation.
