Pakistan’s First Medical Web Series Debuts, Shedding Light on Healthcare Accessibility

KARACHI: In a landmark event at Neuplex Cinemas, the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) unveiled “Precision Meets Purpose,” Pakistan’s inaugural healthcare-focused web series. This pioneering series chronicles the real-life journeys of patients facing severe and complex illnesses who undergo transformative robotic surgeries at SIUT.

The web series aims to ignite a nationwide conversation on healthcare accessibility, stressing the necessity of making advanced medical treatments available to all. It underscores SIUT’s steadfast dedication to medical innovation and its pioneering role in adapting cutting-edge technologies. Today, SIUT is recognized as a national leader in robotic surgery, consistently advancing patient care.

Dr. Adib Rizvi, SIUT’s Founder and Director, emphasized in the documentary that continuous learning and adaptation to new medical frontiers are essential. He stated that providing healthcare facilities is a shared responsibility between the institution and the public, with advancements contingent upon public support.

Dr. Irfan Rizvi, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Virginia Hospital Center and Executive Producer of the series, highlighted the importance of integrating technology into public hospitals to enhance patient outcomes and ensure equitable healthcare access.

Dr. Rehan Mohsin, Head of Robotic Surgery at SIUT, noted that the institution has performed over 4,000 robotic-assisted surgeries, offering patients safer and more efficient treatment options compared to traditional methods.

The series, conceived by Saima Saleem and directed by filmmaker Jami, marks a milestone in medical storytelling in Pakistan. The exclusive premiere brought together healthcare professionals and supporters of SIUT, reinforcing its mission of providing free and dignified healthcare.
