Urumqi: The Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha (UoS), Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, took part in the Ninth CAREC Think Tank Development Forum in Urumqi, representing Pakistan. The event gathered regional experts and policy leaders to discuss enhancing collaboration within the CAREC Think Tank Network (CTTN).
Prof. Dr. Abbas expressed his gratitude to the organizers for facilitating the forum and initiating important discussions on revitalizing the CTTN. He reiterated UoS’s commitment to advancing CAREC’s objectives through research and strategic collaboration.
During the forum, Prof. Dr. Abbas engaged actively with CAREC Think Tank members, proposing significant recommendations. He suggested the creation of an annual activity calendar with quarterly thematic dialogues, either virtual or hybrid, to focus on regional priorities like climate resilience, green financing, and digital transformation. These interactions, he noted, would promote knowledge-sharing and strengthen policy engagement.
Prof. Dr. Abbas also advocated for the formation of specialized working groups in areas such as the green economy and digital innovation. He emphasized that these groups would ensure ongoing collaboration and research on critical regional issues. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of producing joint policy briefs to enhance the network’s impact and visibility.
