Sindh High Court Directs Rapid Resolution on Karachi Construction Complaint

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has concluded proceedings on a petition concerning alleged illegal construction on an amenity plot in the Kathiawar Housing Society of Karachi, following an assurance from the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to address the issue within 30 days.

A division bench comprising Justice Yousuf Ali Saeed and Justice Abdul Mobeen Lakho handled the case, filed by Altaf Shakoor, Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party (PDP). The petition accused the conversion of an amenity plot into a commercial marriage hall, claiming misuse and illegal construction.

The SHC’s short order noted that the petitioner had lodged a complaint with the SBCA. The court recorded an undertaking from SBCA’s counsel, pledging to review and resolve the complaint in accordance with the law by hearing all involved parties within the stipulated timeframe.

PDP Chairman Altaf Shakoor expressed approval of the court’s order and affirmed his party’s commitment to addressing civic issues in Karachi and protecting citizens’ rights.
