Islamabad: Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, the President of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), recently visited the Islamic Research Institute (IRI) where he praised its significance as a center for Islamic scholarship and modern global thought. His visit included an exploration of the institute’s historic gallery, rare books section, and various departments, underscoring the IRI’s contributions to Islamic academic excellence.

During the visit, the President was received by the Director General of IRI, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq. Dr. Alahmed was briefed on the institute’s history, its Paigham-e-Pakistan initiative, and recent facility advancements. He expressed particular interest in the collection of rare manuscripts and works of scholars such as Al-Biruni and Al-Khawarizmi, observing their role in bridging classical and modern discourses.

Dr. Alahmed noted the preservation of these works as crucial for maintaining the intellectual legacy of the Muslim world. He emphasized that this legacy can facilitate meaningful engagement with contemporary global conversations.

Furthermore, the President interacted with post-doctoral scholars, recognizing their research efforts and applauding the institute’s role in fostering academic excellence. He highlighted the scholarly rigor and vision that enable IRI to remain a hub for preserving Islamic heritage and generating new knowledge.
