Colombo: Pakistan emerged with significant success at the 9th South Asian Karate Championship 2025, claiming two gold medals, one silver, and seven bronze in a highly competitive event. Huzaifa Arshad and Aiyana Noel spearheaded the country’s triumph with gold medals in their respective categories.
The championship, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, witnessed participation from six South Asian nations, including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan. The competition spanned various age categories, showcasing intense rivalries.
Huzaifa Arshad clinched the gold in the Individual Kata event for the Under-10 category, while Aiyana Noel secured first place in the Under-12 +40 kg category. Their victories contributed significantly to Pakistan’s medal tally.
Areesha Nadeem added to the medal haul with a silver in the Under-21 Female -50 kg category, alongside a bronze in the Senior Female Team Kata event. The team events further bolstered Pakistan’s performance, with Abdul Rehman and Muhammad Husnain Jamil playing pivotal roles in winning bronze across multiple team categories.
The championship concluded with Pakistan securing a total of ten medals, reflecting the country’s growing prowess in the regional karate scene. The Pakistan Karate Federation expressed satisfaction with the results, highlighting the dedication and skill of the athletes.
As the championship drew to a close, the participants returned home, their achievements marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s karate history.
