Rawalpindi: The Regional Drama Festival, initiated under the guidance of Punjab’s Minister of Information and Culture, Azma Bukhari, began on May 24 at the Punjab Council of Arts Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. The festival aims to provide equal employment opportunities and deliver quality entertainment to the public.
The event is scheduled to run until June 5, with daily performances starting at 8:00 p.m. Each evening features a new play with unique stories, showcasing the talents of well-known artists from Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Recently, on the eighth day of the festival, the play “Ek Mian Hoon” was presented. Written by Arshad Chahal and directed by Sabir Khan, the play explores the relationship between husband and wife. The cast included Shama Adil, Mehboob Ilyas, Raheel Mustafa, Tehsin Jamal, Babar Abdul Waheed, Shuja Humayun, and Sabir Khan. Technical support was provided by Riaz Siddiqui, Rizwan-ul-Zaman, and Dr. Waqar Azeem.
Muhammad Shakoor, Director of Punjab Council of Arts Rawalpindi, emphasized the government’s efforts to promote culture through such initiatives. The event was attended by families, civil servants, media representatives, and a large audience, who praised the performances.
The festival continues to be a significant cultural event, drawing attention from various segments of society.
