Karachi: Zone-VI continued their impressive streak by securing their fifth consecutive victory in the PCB Inter District Under-19 One Day Cricket Tournament, defeating Zone-IV by a significant margin. Zone-VII also showcased strong performances, winning five out of their six matches in the tournament held across various grounds in Karachi.
The day’s play was marked by exceptional centuries from Huzaifa Ahsan, who remained unbeaten with 114, Sufyan Usmani scoring 113, and Abdul Sami contributing 102. Rizwan Ullah’s all-round performance, scoring 65 runs and taking 4 wickets for 46 runs, further highlighted the day’s events. Bowlers Niqab Shafiq and M. Zaid Hasan delivered notable figures of 5/22 each, and Saad Sakhawat took 4/16.
In the match at KCCA Stadium, Zone-VI posted a formidable total of 302/3 in 50 overs, thanks to Ahsan and Sami’s innings. Zone-IV struggled in response, bowled out for 94 in 32.5 overs, with Shafiq and Sakhawat leading the bowling attack.
At Gulberg Gymkhana Ground, Zone-VII overcame Zone-I by six wickets. Zone-I managed 108 all out, with Hasan’s 5/22 playing a pivotal role. Zone-VII chased down the target in 22 overs, securing victory with contributions from Talah Irfan and Fahad Hussain Khan.
In a closely contested match at Agha Khan Gymkhana Ground, Zone-V edged out Zone-III by nine runs. Usmani’s century and Rizwan Ullah’s 65 guided Zone-V to 249/9. Zone-III fell short, despite Zunair Ali Khan’s 81, with Rizwan Ullah claiming key wickets.
The tournament, organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board, will see its group league matches conclude with fixtures scheduled for Wednesday, featuring Zone-I against Zone-II, Zone-III versus Zone-IV, and Zone-V facing Zone-VI.
