Islamabad: The closing ceremony of the Sports Gala Spring 2025 at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) marked the successful conclusion of the event, featuring a recitation from the Holy Quran and the national anthem, which was respectfully observed by all present.
Prof Dr Ahmed Shuja Syed, President of IIUI, served as the Chief Guest and praised the Directorate of Students Affairs (Male) and IIUI sports officials for organizing a memorable event. He highlighted the sports gala as a reflection of the university’s multicultural environment, noting the diverse participation of students from multiple nationalities.
Dr Shuja emphasized the significant role of sports in shaping character, discipline, and teamwork. He advocated for integrating physical activities within academic settings to ensure the holistic development of students.
The ceremony was opened by Dr Hafiz Ghufran, Director of Students’ Affairs (Male), who delivered a welcome address and presented a brief report of the gala to the Chief Guest. He expressed appreciation for the dedication of faculty sports focal persons and directors throughout the event.
Dr Ghufran extended special thanks to the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) for providing their sports gymnasium for the badminton tournament. He reported that 12 teams participated in the gala, with three faculties – the Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Computing – sharing the top position, each securing 13 points.
Trophies were distributed by Prof Dr Ahmad Shuja Syed, who congratulated the winners and commended all participants for their enthusiastic involvement. He encouraged students to continue engaging in sports to promote both physical health and mental well-being.
