LAHORE: Police have detained five members of the student organization Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) following an altercation with security personnel at Punjab University. The arrests were made after the activists allegedly attacked university guards and threatened a security officer with death.

According to a spokesperson from Punjab University, the incident involved the arrest of IJT’s motmad, Sohaib Fakhri, who is accused of issuing life threats to a security officer. The university clarified its stance against such behavior, emphasizing that it would not tolerate actions that disrupt campus peace.

Punjab University officials have stated that they are committed to addressing issues of campus violence without bias. The administration has assured that both the university and law enforcement are collaborating to ensure that those responsible for taking the law into their own hands face consequences.
