Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has extended the Honhaar Scholarship Program to include students from other provinces, ensuring the same eligibility criteria as those in Punjab. This decision was made during a special meeting focused on higher education, where several significant resolutions were passed.

According to a statement by Chief Minister of Punjab, the scholarship program now encompasses students in the second, third, and fourth semesters. Additionally, the number of laptops allocated to students in Punjab has been increased to 110,000. A special helpline will also be established to assist students participating in the Honhaar Scholarship and Laptop Scheme.

During the meeting, CM Sharif emphasized the importance of these initiatives, stating, “Education and youth development are the real investments for the uplift of a nation.” She reiterated that the scholarships and laptops are a right for students across all provinces, including Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sharif assured that the standards for obtaining scholarships would remain consistent across the country and stressed that funding issues would not hinder student welfare. The meeting also approved a one-day Vice Chancellors conference and a Tech Expo to be held in Punjab.
