Lahore: An event was held on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by the Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Department Punjab in collaboration with UNFPA. The gathering was attended by the Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Punjab, Sohail Shaukat Butt, who served as the chief guest.
According to Social Welfare Department, the event saw participation from key figures including Secretary Social Welfare Javed Akhtar Mahmood and Director General Social Welfare Sikandar Zishan, along with all directors and other officers. Representatives from international organizations such as the British Council, FCDO, and AWAZ 2, as well as NGOs and persons with disabilities, were present. The program included a dialogue on the rights of persons with disabilities, highlighting the efforts of the Social Welfare Department. Awards were presented to recognize achievements of persons with disabilities in various fields and the services provided by NGOs.
