New York: Jasprit Bumrah, India’s pace spearhead, has been named the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Men’s Player of the Month for June 2024, capping a phenomenal month that also saw him clinch the Player of the Tournament at the T20 World Cup. His critical performances helped lead India to victory in the tournament held in the USA and Barbados.
According to International Cricket Council, Bumrah’s recognition follows his remarkable contributions throughout the T20 World Cup, where he took a total of 15 wickets with an economy rate of just 4.17, showcasing his skills against top international teams. His achievements include pivotal matches where his bowling secured India key victories, notably in high-stakes games against Pakistan and South Africa.
Bumrah’s success this month also places him alongside Virat Kohli as one of the few Indian cricketers to have won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Player of the Tournament award. Reflecting on his accolades, Bumrah expressed gratitude towards his teammates, coaches, and fans, whose support he credits for his continued success on the international stage. He also acknowledged the strong performances of his fellow nominees, Rohit Sharma and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
