Gwadar: The voter registration rate in Gwadar stands at 46% of its 2025 estimated population, falling short of the national average of 54%.
According to the Free and Fair Election Network, these statistics are based on district-wise electoral roll data released by the Election Commission of Pakistan on December 30, 2025. The figures were compared with population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census. Gwadar's 2025 population was estimated to be 320,984, derived from a base population of 305,160 with an annual growth rate of 2.56%. The voter registration rate is calculated by dividing the number of registered voters, 147,257, by the estimated population.
In Gwadar, 53.8% of registered voters are male, while females make up 46.2%. The district ranks 116th out of 136 nationally by population size, sharing a National Assembly seat with an adjacent district. By voter registration rate, Gwadar stands 99th nationally and 7th within the 34 districts of Balochistan.
The lower registration rate in Gwadar is attributed to challenges common in Balochistan, such as geographic distances between settlements and registration facilities, as well as low population density. These factors make it difficult for the Election Commission of Pakistan to maintain consistent outreach. Additionally, the presence of nomadic and semi-nomadic communities, who may be registered elsewhere or not at all, impacts the voter-to-population ratio.
Female voters in Gwadar represent 46.2% of the registered electorate, indicating a gender gap of 7.5%. Efforts to increase voter registration among women in Gwadar are necessary ahead of the next general elections.
