Mardan: Women University Mardan recently held an enlightening seminar focused on “NFC Share and Challenges Faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” addressing the province’s financial concerns and the issues faced by its merged districts. The seminar, orchestrated under the directives of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was conducted in the university’s Main Hall.
The event featured Mr. Himayatullah Khan, a former advisor on Finance, Energy & Power, who provided an in-depth analysis of the province’s financial standing. Khan outlined the historical and ongoing financial shortfalls experienced by the merged districts and discussed the implications of the incomplete financial merger on governance and service delivery. He stressed the importance of equitable federalism and highlighted the financial devolution post-18th Amendment as crucial for the province’s stability.
Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana, Vice Chancellor of Women University Mardan, stressed the necessity of raising awareness among students and faculty about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s fiscal challenges. She highlighted the upcoming National Finance Commission meeting as a critical opportunity to address these issues and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering dialogue on national policy matters.
The seminar witnessed active participation from faculty, administrative staff, and students, who engaged in discussions about the developmental constraints due to KP’s incomplete NFC share and the need for financial equality for the merged districts. Women University Mardan continues to promote research-based discussions on significant provincial and national issues.
