UVAS Welcomes New Students with Comprehensive Orientation

Lahore: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore organized an orientation program for its newly-admitted undergraduate students on Tuesday at the City Campus. The event was attended by students from various UVAS campuses, including Ravi Campus Pattoki, CVAS Jhang, and KBCMA-CVAS Narowal, who participated via video link.

The orientation was presided over by UVAS Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus, alongside other key faculty members and administrative officers. Dr Younus congratulated the students and their parents for securing admission at UVAS, emphasizing the competitive nature of the selection process. This year, the university received 24,700 applications, out of which only 2,400 students were admitted on merit.

Dr Younus highlighted UVAS’s status as one of Pakistan’s top 10 universities, citing its reputation for quality education and research. He encouraged students to focus on both academic and character development, underscoring the university’s commitment to producing responsible citizens.

Faculty deans, including Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, and Prof Dr Rana Muhammad Ayyub, introduced the students to their respective programs and faculty. They spoke about the university’s efforts to provide a supportive intellectual environment and practical training.

Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani discussed the role of the Dean’s office in facilitating students and the university’s initiatives to maintain a smoke-free and harassment-free campus. Hostel Warden Prof Dr Mati Ur Rehman Khan Niazi explained the university’s rules and the residential facilities available to students.

Additionally, Director of the Information Technology Centre, Mr Rizwan Saleem, outlined the IT resources accessible to students, including computer labs and high-speed internet. Director of Sports, Rana Amjad Iqbal, described the sports facilities available, announcing plans for a new wrestling academy and swimming pool.

The orientation concluded with a meet-and-greet session between the new students, their parents, and the university’s faculty and administration.
