Punjab University Concludes 19th National Apiculture Training Workshop

LAHORE: Punjab University Institute of Zoology concluded its 19th National Hands-on Training Workshop, focusing on modern beekeeping and its integration into productive agriculture. The four-day event gathered 105 participants from academic, industrial, and professional backgrounds, aiming to enhance skills in science-based apiculture and its role in sustainable agriculture.

According to University of the Punjab, the workshop offered comprehensive training in bee health management, pest control, and the development of value-added bee products. Participants engaged in hive inspection, apiary management, and field visits, gaining practical expertise in modern beekeeping techniques. Expert lectures further provided insights into apiculture's agricultural significance and environmental challenges affecting honeybee populations.

The workshop was organized by Prof. Dr. Abdul Majid Khan, with contributions from the Institute of Zoology's faculty. Distinguished guests commended the efforts in promoting sustainable agriculture and capacity building. Prof. Dr. Nabila Roohi, Director of the Institute of Zoology, highlighted the importance of integrating modern beekeeping into agriculture to boost productivity and ensure sustainability, marking a step toward strengthening apiculture-based livelihoods and environmental awareness in Pakistan.
