Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari, in a message marking the 77th death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, paid homage to the founder of Pakistan, highlighting his pivotal role in creating a separate homeland for Muslims in the subcontinent.
Zardari emphasized Jinnah’s vision of a Pakistan founded on justice, equality, tolerance, and democracy, where all citizens, irrespective of their religion or creed, would enjoy equal rights. He praised Jinnah for not only creating a country but also giving its people dignity and identity.
The president also remarked on the treatment of minorities in India, noting that the situation reaffirms the Two-Nation Theory proposed by Jinnah. He asserted that the creation of Pakistan was a justified historical decision, given the current challenges faced by minority communities in India.
Zardari acknowledged the pressing issues Pakistan faces today, including economic challenges, climate change, social inequality, and extremism. He urged the nation to draw inspiration from Jinnah and the Pakistan Movement’s workers, who overcame significant challenges through unity and resolve.
In his message, Zardari called for a recommitment to building a democratic Pakistan governed by the rule of law and accountable institutions. He stressed the importance of ensuring opportunities for youth, empowerment of women, and respect for minorities.
The president concluded by invoking Jinnah’s guiding principles of unity, faith, and discipline, expressing confidence that by adhering to these ideals, Pakistan can overcome its challenges and achieve prosperity.
