National Games Kick Off in Karachi with Intense Squash Matches

KARACHI: The 35th National Games commenced in Karachi with an opening ceremony and a series of competitive squash matches, setting the stage for the multi-day sports event.

The first day of the Games took place at the PSF Jahangir Khan Squash Complex, featuring pool-stage team events for both men and women. The men’s matches saw significant victories, with teams like PAF and Army demonstrating their prowess on the court.

In Men’s Pool A, PAF dominated their matches, defeating KPK 3-0 and overcoming Sindh 2-1. The team showcased strong performances from players such as Yahya Khan and Ammad. HEC also had a notable win against Sindh with a 2-1 scoreline.

Men’s Pool B saw Army asserting control over their opponents, winning 3-0 against both AJK and Balochistan. Punjab and Railway also emerged victorious in their respective matches, with Punjab defeating Navy 3-0 and Railway securing a 2-1 win against Balochistan.

The women’s pool matches featured equally competitive play. Punjab’s women’s team triumphed over Balochistan with a 3-0 victory. In Pool B, Sindh defeated HEC 2-1, and the Army team won against KP with a 2-1 scoreline.

The opening day concluded with a sense of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming events, as teams prepared to continue their quests for victory in the National Games.
