Islamabad: IBA Karachi held its 2024 Alumni Excellence Awards on September 9, 2025, recognizing the accomplishments of its graduates in diverse areas. Despite inclement weather, a large gathering of alumni showed support for their peers and mentors.
The ceremony honored contributions in fields ranging from energy and corporate leadership to entrepreneurship, finance, philanthropy, diversity and inclusion, and athletics. Malahat Awan, Director of Alumni Affairs, Resource Mobilization and Corporate Affairs, hosted the event.
IBA Executive Director, Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, addressed the audience, stating that IBA’s influence extends beyond academics. He showcased alumni success stories and encouraged continued engagement with the institution. Mohammed Sohail, CEO of Topline Securities and IBA’s alumni representative on the Board of Governors, discussed his work to create a more connected global alumni network through new chapters.
Award recipients included Azima Dhanjee, Co-Founder of ConnectHear; Hamza Abdul Rauf, CEO of Telemart; Tabarak Ur Rehman Chaudhry; Dr. Muhammad Imran of Bank Alfalah; Syed Taha of Pakistan State Oil; Farrukh Sabzwari of Pakistan Stock Exchange; Muhammad Nassir Salim of Habib Bank Limited; and Tariq Kirmani of Gas and Oil Pakistan Limited and Pakistan Refinery Limited.
Prominent guests included business leaders like Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Muhammad Zubair, Mushtaq Chhapra, and representatives from various companies such as Systems Ltd, Lucky Electric Power Co., Gatron Industries, Unilever Pakistan, Sapphire Group, Atco Laboratories, Bank Alfalah, and Hilton Pharma. Digital media influencer Tabish Hashmi also attended. IBA faculty, staff, and Board of Governors members were also present.
The event highlighted the lasting impact of IBA Karachi’s graduates, inspiring future generations to strive for similar achievements.
