Farhan Yousaf to Captain Pakistan in ACC U19 Asia Cup

Lahore: Farhan Yousaf has been appointed as the captain of Pakistan’s U19 team for the upcoming ACC U19 Asia Cup, set to take place in Dubai from December 12 to 21. The tournament, featuring eight teams, will serve as a preparatory event for the ICC U19 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia early next year.

Pakistan finds itself in Group ‘A’ with India, Qualifier 1, and Qualifier 3, while Group ‘B’ consists of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Qualifier 2, and Sri Lanka. Pakistan’s campaign will commence against Qualifier 3 on December 12 at The Sevens Stadium, Dubai.

The team is scheduled to face India in their second group match on December 14 at the ICC Academy Ground and will conclude the group stage against Qualifier 1 on December 16. The semi-finals are slated for December 19, with the final on December 21.

Farhan Yousaf, aged 18, brings experience from his recent leadership role with Lahore Region Whites in the National Men’s U19 Cup, where he amassed 369 runs in seven matches. Usman Khan, who will serve as vice-captain, registered 429 runs in the same tournament, representing FATA.

Before heading to Dubai, the squad will participate in a training camp in Karachi. Details regarding the team’s departure will be announced soon.

The 15-member squad includes players such as Abdul Subhan, Ahmed Hussain, and Ali Hassan Baloch. Non-traveling reserves and a comprehensive support staff, led by manager and mentor Sarfaraz Ahmed, will also assist the team.
