Lahore, August 31, 2023 (PPI-OT): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged meeting with three Chinese Disease Surveillance Programme Collaborators team from China Agriculture University.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad (SI) chaired meeting while Director Institute of Microbiology (IOM) Prof Dr Aftab Anjum, Project Manager YU Xinzhe and other delegation members Mr Huang Zongyang, Mr Cui Yuehui and UVAS senior faculty members of (IOM) were present.
Prof Dr Aftab Anjum told the meeting that in collaboration with Livestock Department and local farmers these Chinese researchers/scientific experts have collected more than 350 serum and whole blood samples from buffalo of different age groups from Sheikhupura and they also conducted series of ELISA tests at UVAS state-of-the-art laboratories. Their work encompassed a wide range of diseases foot-and-mouth, bluetongue, brucellosis, bovine tuberculosis mycobacterial disease, bovine paratuberculosis, bovine vesicular stomatitis, Bovine viral diarrhea, bovine leukemia and Q fever etc.
Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed said that we always willing to collaborate with China Agriculture University in joint research projects, students and faculty exchange programme, curriculum development and enhance linkages for strengthened bonds of scientific exploration between both institutions. Ms YU Xinzhe said that our aims of the collaboration were to establish FMD free zone, transfer technology of vaccine production against deadly disease and want to conduct in future capacity building training to uplift buffalo production in Pakistan.
