UVAS and Lahore Traffic Police Collaborate on Road Safety Seminar

Lahore: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), in collaboration with the City Traffic Police Lahore, hosted a seminar aimed at bolstering road safety awareness and understanding of traffic regulations among students and faculty. The event, held at the City Campus on Friday, emphasized the critical importance of adhering to traffic laws to prevent road accidents.

According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the seminar was co-chaired by UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad Younus and Chief Traffic Officer Lahore, Ms. Amara Athar. The seminar also featured key speakers including Prof Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, and DSP/Incharge Education of C.T.P Lahore, Ms. Fehmeda Zeshan, among others.

Ms. Amara Athar addressed the necessity of knowing and following traffic rules to significantly reduce road accidents. She highlighted the importance of wearing helmets for bikers and discussed various initiatives by the City Traffic Police to facilitate driving license acquisition, driving lessons, and promoting female mobility and empowerment through biking.

Prof Dr. Muhammad Younus emphasized the life-saving benefits of following driving regulations and laws strictly. Additionally, Prof Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani spoke about the importance of such awareness seminars in educating the youth about safe driving practices and traffic law compliance.

The seminar also included a detailed presentation by Mr. Muhammad Amir, Education Officer of C.T.P Lahore, who discussed various factors leading to accidents, the significance of observing road signs and signals, adhering to speed limits, and the critical role of safety measures such as the use of seat belts and helmets. He also advised against using mobile phones while driving, which is a common cause of distraction and accidents.

This collaborative effort between UVAS and the City Traffic Police underscores a joint commitment to enhancing road safety education and reducing traffic-related incidents in Lahore.
