University of Chitral Commits to GBV Management with New Training and MoU

Chitral: The University of Chitral’s Department of English participated in a comprehensive training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Case Management Guidelines held in Murree from October 21 to 25, 2024. The program, organized by Rozan in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), aimed to enhance institutional capacities in addressing GBV through collaborative and trauma-informed practices.

According to University of Chitral, six universities from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa joined the initiative, emphasizing a unified approach to creating safer academic environments. Dr. Kifayatullah represented the University of Chitral as the focal person for coordination with PDMA, tasked with overseeing the sustained implementation of the training outcomes within the university. The training focused on inter-agency coordination and practical, context-sensitive approaches for GBV management.

The program concluded with a signing ceremony where Vice Chancellors from each participating university formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PDMA. Dr. Muhammad Shahab, Vice Chancellor of the University of Chitral, signed the MoU on behalf of the institution, reaffirming its commitment to gender-responsive protocols and cooperative efforts to maintain a safe and inclusive academic environment.
