Quetta: The University of Balochistan held its 21st Convocation at the university’s Expo Center, where degrees were awarded to over 330 graduates. The ceremony featured Chancellor and Governor of Balochistan, Sheikh Jafar Khan Mandukhel, as well as Provincial Minister of Education, Ms. Rahila Hameed Durrani, and Vice Chancellor of Jamia Balochistan, Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai, as special guests.
According to University of Balochistan, the event was attended by leaders from various educational institutions, secretaries of departments, educational experts, and university officials, including the pro-chancellor and dean faculties. The ceremony commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the Governor of Balochistan conferring degrees to MPhil and PhD scholars, alongside graduating students. Among the graduates, 25 received PhDs, 27 earned MPhils, and 35 were awarded gold medals.
Governor Mandukhel congratulated the graduates, emphasizing their hard work and dedication in achieving their degrees. He highlighted the historic era in which the graduates are entering the workforce, characterized by a fusion of technologies across the physical, digital, and biological sciences. He noted the unprecedented connectivity of the current generation, emphasizing the global accessibility of information.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Bazai expressed his happiness for the students and their families, acknowledging their efforts in pursuing higher education. He praised the University of Balochistan’s longstanding commitment to advancing knowledge and research in the province, noting the institution’s role in supplying valuable human resources to society each year.
Provincial Minister Rahila Hameed Durrani addressed the convocation, underscoring the critical role of education in achieving development and progress. She emphasized the need for scientific and academic foundations in today’s fast-paced world and congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments, praising the educational contributions of the University of Balochistan.
