Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (UET Lahore) celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with a noteworthy event hosted by the Department of Chemistry. The event, led by Prof. Dr. Farhat Yasmeen, highlighted the significant contributions of women in the scientific field.
According to a statement by Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, the gathering featured speeches from prominent figures, including the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore. Prof. Munir emphasized the importance of supporting women in science and education.
Honors were presented to distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, Vice Chancellor of Government College Women University Sialkot, for her leadership in academia. Other honorees included Dr. Asma Saeed, noted for her work in food and biotechnology, and Dr. Uzma Hira and Dr. Amara Dar, for their research in renewable energy and advocacy for women in STEM.
Chairperson Dr. Farhat expressed her gratitude to all participants, stressing the importance of collaboration and innovation in advancing science and empowering women. She encouraged continued efforts to break barriers in pursuit of excellence.
