Turkish Higher Education Officials Seek Stronger Ties with IIUI

Islamabad: A delegation from the Turkish Higher Education Commission visited the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) to explore opportunities for academic collaboration. The visit included discussions with IIUI President Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed at the university’s new campus.

The meeting, attended by Turkish Education Counsellor Dr. Mehmet Toyran, focused on strengthening academic and cultural ties between the two institutions. Discussions covered potential collaborative initiatives such as student and faculty exchange programs.

Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, the IIUI President, emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting international students through subsidized fees and scholarships. He highlighted IIUI’s involvement in international academic frameworks like the Erasmus Plus and Mevlana Exchange Programs, as well as ongoing research partnerships in Türkiye.

The delegation was led by Mr. Mustafa Efe, President of the International Relations Department of Türkiye’s Higher Education Commission. Mr. Efe praised IIUI alumni for their roles in Türkiye’s education sector and expressed interest in further academic collaboration. He invited IIUI to participate in Türkiye’s international exchange programs.

Mr. Efe also stressed the role of academic institutions in revisiting historical narratives. He recognized Allama Muhammad Iqbal as a key figure in Muslim intellectual history and suggested joint efforts to emphasize contributions of Muslim scholars.
