Karachi, September 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH) in Muzaffargarh achieved a groundbreaking milestone in healthcare by conducting its first telemedicine-assisted corrective foot procedure. This achievement was made possible through the global collaboration and the expertise of Professor Mark Myerson and the team at RTEH led by Dr. Gauhar Nawaz Khan.

This event highlighted the transformative potential of telemedicine in overcoming geographical barriers and delivering specialized medical care to patients in remote areas. Professor Myerson conducted a remote assessment of the patient’s condition, reviewed medical records, and collaborated with the local medical team to establish a treatment plan. Utilizing advanced telemedicine technology, he observed the surgery in real-time, provided precise instructions, and ensured that every step of the corrective foot procedure was executed with utmost precision. This collaborative effort resulted in a successful and life-changing surgery for the patient.

Professor Mark Myerson, M.D., President and Founder of Steps2Walk and Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Colorado, as well as a former President of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, was honored with the 2023 Humanitarian Award by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). He is a tireless advocate for underserved individuals suffering from foot and ankle problems.
