Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Leads Efforts to Reduce Neonatal Mortality

Karachi, September 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): In a significant step toward reducing neonatal mortality related to childbirth, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH), Muzaffargarh, recently organized a two-day workshop on Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). The workshop witnessed a diverse gathering of healthcare workers from RTEH and other hospitals across South Punjab.

The foremost goal of the workshop was to take concrete steps towards reducing neonatal mortality rates associated with childbirth. Through advanced training in neonatal resuscitation techniques, healthcare professionals aim to improve outcomes for newborns in critical situations.

The workshop also sought to empower healthcare workers, from both Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh and other healthcare facilities in the region, by equipping them with the latest knowledge and skills in neonatal care.

Another significant objective was to train future trainers in neonatal resuscitation. Dr. Misbah Qureshi, imparted valuable teaching skills related to NRP. This “train-the-trainer” approach ensures that the knowledge and expertise gained at the workshop can be effectively disseminated to a wider audience, multiplying the positive impact on neonatal outcomes.

Dr. Athar Razzaq, Head of NICU, RTEH organized the workshop, while Dr. Misbah Qureshi, Assistant Professor at The George Washington University in the USA, was the Master Trainer. Dr. Shiraz Hassan, Faculty Chair at RTEH, gave the opening message, emphasizing the hospital’s commitment to enhancing healthcare in the region.

The NRP workshop at RTEH stands as a remarkable initiative to combat neonatal mortality and bolster healthcare capabilities in the region. With dedicated organizers, expert trainers, and enthusiastic participants, this event signifies a significant step forward in ensuring the well-being of newborns and their families in South Punjab. The knowledge and skills acquired during this workshop are expected to have a lasting impact on the healthcare landscape, ultimately leading to improved neonatal care and reduced mortality rates.
