Lahore: Students from Punjab University’s Hailey College of Commerce Karate Club clinched the Team Trophy at the Independence Day Karate Championship 2024, hosted at the Shahbaz Sharif Indoor Sports Complex.
According to University of the Punjab, the Hailey College team won an impressive collection of medals, securing 7 golds, 3 silvers, and 5 bronzes during the event. This achievement follows a successful outing by HCC student Zerq Khan at the Asian Indoor Rowing Championship in Malaysia, where he won 2 gold medals. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood and HCC Principal Prof Dr. Hafiz Zafar Ahmad extended their congratulations to the players for their exceptional performances.
The university also recognized the contributions of several individuals integral to these successes, including President of Sports Atiq Ur Rahman, Hailey Karate Club Coach Nimra Dastgeer Khan, Societies Coordinator Arzam Hussain, PU Sports Director Zubair Butt, Estate Officer Sardar Shakeel, and HCC Sports Director Nadeem Munir. Their dedication and support were highlighted as key factors in guiding the college’s karate and rowing teams to national and international acclaim.
