LAHORE: Punjab University administration has implemented disciplinary actions against 39 students, issuing expulsions, suspensions, and fines for violating university regulations. This move underscores the institution’s ongoing commitment to maintaining order and adherence to its codes of conduct.
According to a spokesperson from the university, the latest disciplinary measures resulted in the expulsion of ten students from various departments. Among those expelled are Mujtaba Hussain, Muhammad Anees, and Zain Shaukat from the Institute of Education and Research, as well as Muneeb-ur-Rehman and Muhammad Arif from the Department of Gender Studies.
In addition to the expulsions, several students faced rustication for a year and monetary fines. Shahzeb Khan Barki, Wajid Noor Khan, and Muhammad Kashif Nawaz from the Department of Gender Studies, among others, were penalized in this manner.
The disciplinary committee also placed 19 students on a probationary period of three months. Meanwhile, four students received fines ranging from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 50,000.
The spokesperson noted that six students were acquitted after the charges against them were not substantiated. The university emphasized that the disciplinary committee, under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali, remains committed to fair and merit-based evaluations of all disciplinary cases.
These actions reflect the university’s stance on maintaining discipline and its strategic approach to addressing rule violations within its community.
