PRCS Chairman and Iranian Ambassador Discuss Enhancing Bilateral Ties in Islamabad

Islamabad, In a crucial diplomatic meeting, Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari, Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), visited the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad to meet with His Excellency Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam, the Iranian Ambassador. The meeting emphasized the strong bond between Pakistan and Iran and explored avenues for further cooperation.

According to Pakistan Red Crescent Society, the discussions focused on the enduring relationship between the two countries, which Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam described as ‘Two souls and one body.’ The ambassador commended PRCS for its significant efforts in humanitarian services, specifically highlighting the success of a recent fundraising event in October, which showcased the organization’s vital role in supporting vulnerable communities.

The conversation also covered PRCS’s response to last year’s devastating floods in various regions of Pakistan. Ambassador Moghaddam expressed gratitude for the PRCS’s initiatives during this time, while Chairman Laghari stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration in disaster response and regional issues.

A significant topic of discussion was the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Chairman Laghari proposed practical support measures for the people of Palestine, including cash funds for targeted aid, and discussed rallying support from other national societies. This aligns with PRCS’s commitment to international humanitarian efforts.

The meeting also delved into collaborative healthcare projects in Quetta. Discussions included the involvement of Iranian experts to improve the training of local staff at two dispensaries. Ambassador Moghaddam announced the installation of two dialysis plants in Pakistan, with Iranian experts providing training to the PRCS technical team for their operation, and PRCS taking responsibility for their management.

Chairman Laghari highlighted PRCS’s vast network of volunteers and proposed collaboration on various healthcare and community-based initiatives between PRCS and Iran. He extended an invitation to the Iranian Ambassador to visit the PRCS National Headquarters. In return, Ambassador Moghaddam committed to arranging a visit for the PRCS Chairman to Iran, aiming to enhance coordination between the two organizations and with different stakeholders in Iran.

This meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the ties between Pakistan and Iran, particularly in the realm of humanitarian and healthcare collaboration.
