Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team Ramps Up for T20 World Cup

Lahore: Pakistan’s women’s cricket team has intensified its preparations for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup with a comprehensive training camp scheduled from August 8 to 24 in Lahore. The camp will host 25 cricketers, including nine batters, eight bowlers, six all-rounders, and two wicketkeepers, all gearing up for a series of fitness and skills sessions designed to fine-tune their readiness for the global tournament.

According to International Cricket Council, the training camp will commence with the players joining on August 7, followed by various fitness-related activities including medical screenings, fitness assessments, and fielding drills until August 18. The latter part of the camp, starting August 19, will focus on skills development with extensive net sessions under the guidance of the national coaching staff.

Notable participants in the camp include all-rounders Aliya Riaz and Nida Dar, fast bowlers like Diana Baig, and spinners Nashra Sundhu and Sadia Iqbal, among others. The team is coming off a strong performance in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, where they reached the semi-finals.

Pakistan is placed in Group A for the T20 World Cup, facing tough competitors including India, Australia, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand. The group matches are set to be a challenging journey, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals. The team’s rigorous preparation aims to build on their recent Asia Cup experience and achieve a significant standing in the World Cup.
