Pakistan Adjusts Squad for Crucial T20 World Cup Match Against New Zealand

Dubai: Ahead of their decisive group match at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan’s cricket team has made a significant roster change due to an injury. Pacer Diana Baig, who sustained a calf injury, will miss the remainder of the tournament, prompting the inclusion of Najiha Alvi in the squad.

According to International Cricket Council, Baig’s injury occurred during Pakistan’s earlier match against Sri Lanka in Sharjah on October 3. Najiha Alvi has been called up to replace Baig as Pakistan prepares for their final group clash against New Zealand on Monday. The team faces a tough challenge, needing a substantial victory margin to advance to the semi-finals.

The team will also see the return of skipper Fatima Sana, who missed the previous game due to the passing of her father. Sana’s leadership is anticipated to be vital as Pakistan strives to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

The current squad includes players such as Aliya Riaz, Gull Feroza, Iram Javed, and Muneeba Ali, all of whom will play crucial roles in Pakistan’s strategy against New Zealand.
