Vice Chancellor Stresses Importance of Education and Co-Curricular Activities at SMIU Model School Prize Distribution Ceremony

Karachi, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), emphasized the significance of education and co-curricular activities for students in Karachi during the prize distribution ceremony organized by the SMIU Model School. The event took place at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium of the university on Thursday.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Dr. Sahrai addressed the audience, noting that students in Karachi have more educational opportunities compared to those in other cities and remote areas. He encouraged them to take advantage of these opportunities to secure a bright future. He highlighted that students in Karachi are fortunate to have access to quality education, modern facilities, and various healthy activities, which may not be readily available in cities like Larkana, Sukkur, Umerkot, Bhirya, Khuzdar, Qalat, and Gilgit.

Dr. Sahrai reflected on his education at D.J. College and shared how the culture of Karachi contributed to his success. He also mentioned that SMIU Model School students should feel proud as they are attending the same institution that Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah once attended. He noted that while his own school days in Dadu city were filled with motivation and dynamic activities, today’s students seem less equipped with such experiences despite being a part of the 21st century generation.

Dr. Sahrai urged teachers and management of SMIU Model School to provide more opportunities for students to engage in co-curricular activities, emphasizing that these activities are crucial for student growth and development. He encouraged teachers to give equal importance to both curricular and co-curricular activities.

During the ceremony, Dr. Sahrai presented medals and certificates to students who excelled in various competitions held in the city. He also presented a shield to Ms. Nabeela Kanwal, Principal of SMIU Model School, who in turn gave him a souvenir. The event was attended by the Registrar of SMIU, Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Shaikh, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Zahid Ali Channar, along with teachers and students from the SMIU Model School.

UVAS Lahore Hosts Workshop on HEC Graduate Policy 2023 for PhD Scholars

Lahore, The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore, in collaboration with its Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), organized a workshop titled “PhD Scholars Workshop on HEC Graduate Policy 2023.” The event, aimed at raising awareness among PhD students about the new Higher Education Commission (HEC) graduate policy, took place on Thursday at the UVAS City Campus.

According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the workshop featured Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Prof. Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani, who outlined the objectives of the event. She explained that the primary aim was to inform students about the key aspects of the HEC Graduate Policy 2023 and to gather feedback from participants to assess the policy’s effectiveness.

A total of 33 PhD scholars from UVAS attended the workshop, alongside university officials including Registrar Sajjad Hyder, Director of Quality Enhancement Cell Dr. Dawar Hameed Mughal, Controller of Examination Syed Zargham Hyder, and Organizing Secretary Dr. Ghulam Mustafa. The workshop covered a range of topics related to the PhD degree program, such as admission criteria, course work, comprehensive exams, thesis requirements, research paper guidelines, and similarity index.

The event provided an opportunity for PhD scholars to engage in discussions and seek clarifications on the new policy. Rawalkot, The Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Poonch, Rawalkot, organized a seminar focused on improving soil fertility, structure, and productivity to increase agricultural production. The seminar was part of a broader initiative to promote self-reliance in productivity and ensure quality education for faculty members. The event featured discussions on various methods to enhance soil health and productivity, emphasizing their importance for agricultural success.

According to University of Poonch Rawalakot, the seminar’s chief guest was Professor Dr. Syed Abdul Majid, former Professor of the Botany Department at Azad Kashmir University and former Registrar of Virtual University. In his address, Dr. Majid advised students and faculty members on different approaches to improve land productivity and maintain soil health. He emphasized the significance of incorporating modern techniques to boost agricultural yields while ensuring the sustainability of soil resources.

Rawalakot, A special event was held at the University of Poonch to commemorate “Medical Lab Professionals Week,” with a cake-cutting ceremony marking the occasion. The event, organized by the Department of Medical Lab Technology within the Faculty of Medical Health Sciences, featured Dean of Faculty Professor Dr. Abdul Khaliq and Department Chairman Dr. Muhammad Usman.

According to University of Poonch Rawalakot, Dr. Muhammad Usman spoke about the crucial role that medical lab technology plays in the healthcare sector, emphasizing that therapy and treatment rely heavily on technologists’ skills and coordination. He stated that the health sector is incomplete without paramedics and that correct diagnosis and disease treatment depend on skilled technologists. President Zardari Calls for Unified Efforts to Eradicate Malaria in Pakistan, Islamabad


Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the need for a comprehensive and unified approach to combat malaria across Pakistan in his address on World Malaria Day, calling on all sectors of society to intensify their efforts towards making Pakistan malaria-free.



According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari, in his message, urged provincial governments, healthcare providers, NGOs, private entities, philanthropists, community leaders, and media to collaborate extensively. He highlighted the importance of raising awareness about malaria control and improving diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to alleviate the suffering of affected individuals. The President underlined that malaria is preventable, diagnosable, and treatable, demanding collective action.



The theme for World Malaria Day 2024, “Advancing health equity, gender equality, and human rights,” reflects the broad-based effort required to tackle the disease. President Zardari also detailed the government’s commitment to the T3 Strategy: TEST, TREAT, TRACK, a new initiative under the Global Malaria Programme aimed at ensuring that every suspected case of malaria is tested, confirmed, and treated, with rigorous tracking to inform policy decisions.



He expressed his satisfaction with the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination’s approach through the Common Management Unit-CMU Malaria, which focuses on both prevention and treatment, paying special attention to vulnerable groups. The President also mentioned the setbacks in malaria control due to the 2022 floods, which significantly increased malaria cases and impeded past progress. He called for a concerted effort from all stakeholders, including international partners, to address this urgent challenge.

Al Baraka Bank Delegation Explores Collaboration with IIUI During Faisal Masjid Campus Visit

Islamabad, A delegation from Al Baraka Bank’s Global Board visited the Faisal Masjid campus of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), aiming to explore collaboration and foster environmental sustainability. The delegation was led by Dr. Jehad El Nakla, Chairman of the Al Baraka Bank Board, and included Muhammad Atif Hanif, CEO and President Al Baraka Bank, and Muhammad Umar Pasha, Group Head of Service Quality/EVP.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the delegation was received by Nasir Farid, Incharge Protocol and Public Relations, who provided a briefing on IIUI’s services and its role in promoting higher education.
