NFEH Conference to Address Climate Change Impact on Food Security

Karachi: The National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) is preparing to host a conference on the nexus between climate change and food security on August 7 at a local hotel. This year’s event, themed “Securing Resilient Livelihoods,” aims to highlight the critical intersection of environmental sustainability and community resilience. The conference will feature discussions led by key figures in environmental and agricultural sectors and will also include the 21st Annual Environment Excellence Awards.

According to National Forum of Health and Environment, the conference will see participation from notable speakers such as Dr. Zubala Yasir Lutfi, Assistant Professor at the University of Karachi, and Omar Nadeem Arif, an environmental engineer at EMC Pakistan. Key government officials including Dost Muhammad Rahimoon, Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development, and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh Energy and Planning and Development Minister, will attend as chief guests.

The event will serve as a platform for stakeholders from various sectors, including environmentalists, food experts, and government officials, to discuss sustainable practices and strategies to combat the challenges posed by climate change on food security. Additionally, the NFEH will honor organizations with the Environment Excellence Awards for their commitment to environmental safety standards.

NFEH President Naeem Qureshi emphasized the importance of the conference in fostering a dialogue on environmental issues and recognizing the efforts of the corporate sector in maintaining ecological balance. He noted that the event encourages adherence to both national and international environmental standards, promoting sustainable industry practices across the country.
