Turbat: A two-day workshop focusing on micro agro-entrepreneurship in the Kech District of Balochistan concluded at the University of Turbat (UoT), aiming to empower trainers with skills necessary to support small-scale farmers and agribusinesses.
According to a statement by University of Turbat, the Training of Trainers (ToT) event, held on February 6-7, 2025, was a collaborative effort involving Star Farm (Private) Limited Pakistan, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), the International Trade Centre (ITC), and the European Union. The workshop took place at the Law Department of UoT.
Dr. Ghulam Jan, an assistant professor at the Department of Management Sciences, UoT, and a master trainer from SMEDA, led the workshop. The event attracted representatives from both governmental and non-governmental organizations working within the Mekran Division.
The workshop aimed to impart crucial skills for adopting modern agricultural techniques, which in turn could boost productivity and open up improved opportunities in the agricultural sector. Participants were also encouraged to embrace sustainable farming practices.
Training local trainers is expected to create a ripple effect, ultimately benefiting communities and fostering long-term growth in the sector. The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony attended by Chief Operating Officer Mr. Zeshan Saqib.
