Islamia University of Bahawalpur to Host PhD Defense on Tuberculosis Immunization

Bahawalpur: The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) is set to conduct an open defense for a doctoral thesis on innovative tuberculosis immunization strategies. The event, scheduled for September 10, 2024, at the Jinnah Auditorium, will feature the defense by PhD scholar M. Mohsin Zaman on his research titled “Genetic Immunization against Tuberculosis using five selected Mycobacterium specific Genes.”

According to The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan, Dr. Mirza Imran Shahzad supervises the research, with Dr. Muhammad Rafiq from Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences serving as the external examiner. The research aims to contribute significantly to the fight against tuberculosis through genetic immunization techniques, focusing on specific genes of the Mycobacterium responsible for the disease.

This PhD defense is anticipated to draw significant attention from the academic and medical research communities, given the innovative approach to combating one of the world’s most persistent public health challenges.
