LAHORE: Federal Minister for Planning Development, Prof Ahsan Iqbal, emphasized that the ideology of Allama Iqbal serves as a pivotal force for Pakistan’s development, likening it to an “atomic bomb” for progress. He expressed that by adhering to Iqbal’s teachings, Pakistan has the potential to transform into a developed nation. He highlighted the historical context where Muslims thrived in various fields due to their connection with knowledge, which enabled them to rule for centuries. In contrast, he lamented the current situation where the US, Russia, China, and India are making strides in space exploration, and Israel’s influence surpasses the combined power of 52 Islamic countries. His remarks were made during a seminar titled ‘Journey to National Development in the Light of Iqbal’s Thoughts,’ held at Al Raazi Hall. The event was organized by the Punjab University Institute of Urdu Language and Literature and the Directorate of Students Affairs to commemorate Iqbal’s Day.
According to University of the Punjab, the seminar witnessed the presence of notable personalities, including PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, UVAS VC Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood, Dr Jameel from HEC Pakistan, Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Dr Muhammad Kamran, Director Iqbal Academy Lahore Dr Abdul Rauf Rafeeqi, Director Urdu Development and Translation Centre Prof Dr Baseera Ambreen, Prof Dr Zia-ul-Hassan, alongside faculty members, staff, and a substantial gathering of students.
