IoBM Karachi Seminar Explores Future of Pakistan-Bangladesh Relations

Karachi: The Global and Regional Studies Center at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) hosted a comprehensive seminar on September 3, 2024, discussing the future of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and the recent political developments in Bangladesh.

According to Institute of Business Management, the seminar titled “Understanding Political Developments in Bangladesh and the Future of Pakistan-Bangladesh Relations” featured a panel of distinguished experts in international relations. The event was attended by IoBM’s President Mr. Talib Karim, Rector Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, and several deans, along with heads of departments, faculty, and students. The panelists provided a deep dive into the evolving political landscape in Bangladesh and its implications for bilateral ties with Pakistan.

Ambassador G. R. Baluch, Director of the GRSC-IoBM, moderated the session, providing historical context that set the stage for discussions on social and economic factors influencing regional dynamics. The panel included Ambassador Dr. Masuma Hasan, who emphasized the importance of political stability in Bangladesh for healthier bilateral relations, and Ambassador Rafiuzzaman Siddiqui, who shared insights from his tenure as High Commissioner to Bangladesh. Topics such as the impact of Bengali nationalism and the role of India in regional politics were also discussed, alongside strategies for strengthening SAARC and enhancing economic cooperation.

The seminar concluded with an interactive Q and A session, allowing for further engagement on the critical issues discussed, underscoring the importance of informed dialogue in shaping foreign relations.
