Lahore: Fatima Jinnah Medical University recently hosted an international seminar on the role of women in medicine, featuring prominent figures from the medical community, including Dr. Sarah Clarke, former President of the Royal College of Physicians in London.
According to Fatima Jinnah Medical University – Lahore, the seminar brought together experts like Dr. Sarah Clarke and Dr. Sebastian Alexander to discuss various aspects of women’s contributions to healthcare. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal initiated the event, which showcased the achievements of the university, such as receiving the Best University Teacher Award and establishing a Telemedicine Department during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event featured lectures from Dr. Asma Ahmed on the challenges and opportunities for women in medicine in Pakistan and Dr. Sebastian Alexander on healthcare advancements for women in the UK. Additionally, the seminar highlighted the importance of professional growth and resilience in the medical profession, as addressed by Prof. Bilquis Shabbir and Prof. Samina Ghaznavi.
A highlight was the awarding of an honorary shield and the University History Book to Dr. Clarke in recognition of her contributions to the medical field. The seminar concluded with a vibrant question and answer session, underscoring the interactive and enlightening nature of the event.
