Lahore: An international delegation, including Dr. Sarah Clarke, former President of the Royal College of Physicians, London, Dr. Sebastian Alexander, and Dr. Asad Rahim, visited Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Lahore College for Women University in Lahore. The delegation, joined by Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, inaugurated the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the hospital and engaged in discussions on healthcare advancements and educational innovation.
According to Fatima Jinnah Medical University – Lahore, the delegation’s visit to the Mother & Child Block at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital included a tour of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which now boasts over 24 ventilator facilities. Dr. Sarah Clarke expressed her appreciation for the state-of-the-art facilities and acknowledged the vision of the Government of Punjab and the specialized healthcare department. Dr. Sebastian Alexander remarked on the exemplary contributions of Professor Khalid Masood Gondal and the advanced healthcare services available to the people of Pakistan.
The visit also encompassed the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, where the delegation participated in an ongoing training workshop on “VPD Surveillance.” Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal underscored the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality public health services, citing the significant number of childbirths handled daily as evidence of their model services.
During their visit to Lahore College for Women University, the delegation, led by Vice Chancellor Gondal, engaged in discussions with Vice Chancellor Prof. Uzma Qureshi on global innovation, business incubation, and professional development. Honorary souvenirs were exchanged as a token of appreciation.
In the evening, the UK delegation attended a dinner meeting with Khawaja Muhammad Salman Rafique, Minister for SHC&ME, and other prominent figures, where souvenirs were exchanged, and gratitude was expressed for the collaborative efforts in advancing healthcare and education in the region.
