IIUI’s Shariah Academy Conducts Islamic Law Orientation Course in Islamabad

Islamabad, The Shariah Academy of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) successfully conducted a two-day Islamic Procedural Law Orientation Course, drawing participation from approximately 50 senior law officers, lawyers, law graduates, and law students from both Pakistan and abroad. The course aimed to enhance understanding and application of Islamic legal principles within the context of modern law practice.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the training included in-depth discussions on various critical aspects of Islamic law such as Means of Proof in Islamic and Pakistan Law, the Role of Precedents and Lawyers in the Islamic Judicial System, Modes of Investigation, and the Role of Women as Qazi (judge) and Witness. The event featured a series of lectures delivered by esteemed scholars and practitioners in the field of Islamic law.

Prominent speakers such as Prof. Dr. Ata Ullah Faizi, Director-General of the Shariah Academy, and Barrister Usama Malik, Director of the Directorate of Legal Education at the Pakistan Bar Council, shared their expertise. They were joined by other notable experts including Prof. Dr. Anwarullah, former advisor to the Sultan of Brunei, and Dr. Moti ur Rehman from the Federal Shariat Court, who contributed to the rich discourse on the applicability of Islamic jurisprudence in contemporary legal frameworks.

The course concluded with a ceremony at the Faisal Majid Campus of the university, where participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Islamic legal principles. Prof. Dr. Ata Ullah Faizi thanked the university’s administration, particularly IIUI Rector Prof. Dr. Samina Malik and President Prof. Dr. Hathal Hamoud Alotaibi, for their support in making the event possible. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Shariah Academy’s faculty and staff in organizing the course.
