Muzaffarabad: The Shari’ah Academy of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has successfully organized a series of Islamic Law Orientation Courses in the regions of Neelum and Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. These events were part of the Academy’s broader outreach program aimed at enhancing the understanding of Islamic law within the legal community.
In Neelum, the course was conducted with the collaboration of the local judiciary and the District Bar Association. The event saw participation from a range of legal and administrative professionals, including judges, qazis, lawyers, police officers, as well as senior district officials such as the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, the Director General of the Shari’ah Academy, expressed gratitude to District Qazi Abdul Sakoor, District and Sessions Judge Abdul Wahid Mughal, and Bar President Basharat Ahmad Mir for their assistance in organizing the course.
Meanwhile, in Muzaffarabad, the course was arranged in cooperation with the Central Bar. Over 60 lawyers attended, and the event concluded with addresses from District and Sessions Judge Jahangir Jaral and District Qazi Mahfooz Sab. The Director General acknowledged the support of the Central Bar’s leadership and the active participation of the attendees.
The courses featured lectures and interactive sessions led by a team of experts, including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, Dr. Asadullah, Mr. Abdul Sakoor, and Hafiz Ahmad Waqas. The curriculum covered a range of topics such as the Sources and Principles of Shari’ah, Muslim Criminal Law, Family Law, Inheritance, Islamic Procedural Law, Advocacy, and the Islamic provisions of Pakistan’s Constitution.
During his visit, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram also engaged in discussions with the Registrar of the High Court of AJK and the Secretary General of the High Court Bar Association to explore potential collaboration opportunities. The courses emphasize the Academy’s dedication to enhancing legal capacity and fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic law among legal professionals.
