Gaddafi Stadium Prepares for International Spotlight with Comprehensive Upgrade

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently unveiled the latest developments in the comprehensive renovation of Gaddafi Stadium, positioning it as a future centrepiece for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The upgrade includes a new pavilion with upgraded facilities for players and officials, and an expansion of spectator capacity to accommodate over 34,000 fans.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the renovation efforts are focused on enhancing the stadium’s infrastructure to meet the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) standards for the upcoming global event. The new pavilion at Gaddafi Stadium will boast five-star amenities for players, match officials, commercial partners, and dignitaries, aligning with the ICC’s requirements.

The redesign will bring spectators 20 feet closer to the cricket action, incorporating new imported seats and high-resolution replay screens to enhance the viewing experience. Additionally, existing infrastructure such as floodlight towers and seating will be upgraded with the latest technology, including LED lights, to improve live broadcast quality.

Qazi Jawwad Ahmad, PCB Director of Infrastructure, emphasized the ongoing efforts at the construction site, noting that the continuous work is on track to meet the deadline by the end of December. He highlighted that under Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s leadership, the stadium is set to become a world-class venue that not only enhances the fan experience but also sets a new standard for cricket facilities in Pakistan.
