Fatima Jinnah Medical University Hosts Seminar on Women’s Role in Medicine

Lahore: Renowned specialists gathered at Fatima Jinnah Medical University to discuss the role of women in medicine, with international cardiologist Dr. Sarah Clarke and Dr. Sebastian Alexander serving as chief guests. The seminar highlighted the university’s recent achievements and featured comprehensive lectures on women’s contributions and challenges in the medical field.

According to Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal welcomed the guests, including Dr. Asad Rahim, Prof. Samina Ghaznavi, and Dr. Asma Ahmed, as Guests of Honour. The program commenced with a recitation and the National Anthem, followed by a presentation from Prof. Gondal on the university’s accomplishments, such as the Best University Teacher Award and the establishment of a Telemedicine Department.

Dr. Sarah Clarke thanked the hosts and delivered a lecture emphasizing the importance of women in medicine, urging attendees to enhance their creative intelligence and professional relationships. Dr. Asma Ahmed spoke on navigating challenges in Pakistan, while Dr. Asad Rahim and Dr. Sebastian Alexander contributed perspectives on the field. Prof. Bilquis Shabbir addressed physician burnout, and Prof. Samina Ghaznavi discussed women’s workplace rights from an Islamic viewpoint.

The seminar concluded with a question and answer session, attended by faculty, students, and university heads. Vice Chancellor Prof. Gondal presented an honorary shield and University History Book to Dr. Sarah Clarke as a token of appreciation.
