Election of Athletes Commission of POA

Lahore, June 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):Today (10th June, 2022), the Athletes Commission of Pakistan Olympic Association held its meeting at Pakistan Olympic House, Lahore.

Mr. Muhammad Inam Butt, World Champion was elected unopposed as the Chair of Athletes Commission for the next term. Ms. Mahoor Shahzad, Olympian has been elected as the female representative of Athletes Commission for the General Council of POA. The composition of Athletes Commission will be:

1. Ms. Mahoor Shahzad – Badminton

2. Ms. Rukhsan Parveen – Boxing

3. Mr. Muhammad Afzal – Gymnastics

4. Mr. Tahir Ali – Handball

5. Ms. Asma Akram – Handball

6. Mr. Usman Chand – Shooting

7. Mr. Aimal Khan – Volleyball

8. Ms. Veronica Sohail – Weightlifting

9. Mr. Muhammad Karim – Winter Sports

10. Ms. Umama Wali – Winter Sports

11. Mr. Muhammad Bilal – Wrestling

12. Mr. Muhammad Inam – Wrestling

Earlier, Syed Muhammad Abid Qadri chaired the electoral meeting of the Athletes Commission and Mr. Manzoor Ul Hasan (Olympian), Rana Asif (Olympian), Ms. Shabana Akhtar (Olympian), Ms. Sadaf Siddiqui (Olympian), Mr. Parvaiz Ahmed observed the proceedings of the elections of Athletes Commission.

Lt. Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan, President POA felicitated the Chair and members of the POA’s Athletes Commission. In a message to athletes, he expressed that our athletes are a treasurer and we are confident that POA’s Athletes Commission will play a very positive role in uplifting the national sports and highlighting the issues and solutions they face.

Mr. Muhammad Inam, Chair POA Athletes Commission thanked the POA for continuous support in developing athletes platforms across the National Sports Federations. He said that the IOC emphasizes upon equipping athletes in a manner beneficial for the well-being of athletes and POA has always rendered valuable support to the Athletes Commission.

POA and the Olympic Family of Pakistan welcomed members of Athletes Commission, and assured continued support in endeavours to empower athletes to take the leading role in the Olympic Movement of Pakistan and look forward to the Athletes Commission to speak for their rights and responsibilities and strengthen sports integrity in Pakistan.
