Conference in Islamabad Advocates AI and Lifelong Learning in Higher Education

Islamabad: The Conference for Quality and Innovation in Higher Education, held at the International Islamic University Islamabad, concluded with a call for integrating emerging technologies and lifelong learning strategies in higher education. The event, which brought together around 300 participants from more than 30 institutions, focused on enhancing teaching methodologies and aligning educational content with global trends.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the conference emphasized the adoption of artificial intelligence and e-learning platforms to improve student engagement and teaching practices. Participants suggested policies for lifelong learning through flexible pathways like micro-credentialing and online courses, aimed at enabling students to continuously update their skills.

The event featured 29 parallel sessions and 153 presentations, with experts advocating for the creation of inclusive education practices that cater to diverse learning needs. The importance of making education accessible and equitable was highlighted, with speakers urging for curriculum development that fosters critical thinking and real-world problem-solving.

Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University, addressed the closing ceremony, discussing challenges in Pakistan’s higher education system. He commended the conference for addressing critical issues and stressed the need for innovation and alignment with contemporary educational trends.

Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, the conference convener, and other key figures like Dr. Azhar Mahmood and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir emphasized continued collaboration for transformative change in higher education. The conference also included keynote addresses from international experts, culminating in a vote of thanks and distribution of souvenirs.
